GUIDING PATIENTS ON THE LOW FODMAP JOURNEY: A DIETITIAN’S TEACHING TOOLKIT
This course is designed to equip dietitians with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively educate and support patients on the Low FODMAP diet. Participants will explore the key principles of the diet, learn to identify and navigate common challenges, and gain practical strategies for patient communication and adherence. The session will also cover the assessment of patient progress and provide evidence-based approaches for enhancing symptom relief and long-term dietary management.
Upon successful completion of this xxx-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Explain the principles of the Low FODMAP diet and its role in managing gastrointestinal symptoms commonly associated with irritable bowel syndrome.


  • Identify common high-FODMAP foods and appropriate low-FODMAP alternatives.


  • Utilize practical tools and resources to support patients in meal planning and food selection on the Low FODMAP diet.


  • Assess the effectiveness of the Low FODMAP diet in improving patient symptoms, then determine timing for FODMAP reintroduction and personalization.
