NUTRITIONAL TERRAINS OF CANCER
This program will address various nutritional terrains of cancer highlighting the clinical research as well as providing patients with practical evidence-based guidance. We will discuss glycemic regulation, inflammation, and stress chemistry as they relate to all stages of cancer development. Additionally, we will note how these components affect various co-morbidities, immune function, and one’s quality of life and sense of well-being.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Identify three or more components of an anti-inflammatory diet.


  • List three strategies to improve glycemic regulation.


  • Describe how cortisol impacts cancer risk.


  • Detail which biomarkers may be clinically beneficial in managing nutritional care of the oncology patient.

About the Presenter: Natalie Ledesma, MS, RDN, CSO, CLT
Natalie Ledesma

With over 26 years of experience as a registered dietitian nutritionist, Natalie is a well-seasoned practitioner. A board-certified specialist in oncology nutrition, Natalie is the founding dietitian for the nutrition program at the University of California, San Francisco Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and is the clinical nutrition specialist at Smith Integrative Oncology in San Francisco. On a daily basis, she works with patients through her integrative & functional nutrition private practice. Natalie provides nutrition counseling and frequently presents nationally on various cancer and integrative health focused nutrition topics. She has taught college courses and cooking classes, and has been extensively involved in community outreach.

Natalie is highly regarded in her industry and is often sought out for her expert opinion. She has been interviewed by The New York Times, NBC, Fortune magazine, Cure magazine, MAMM magazine, Runner’s World, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
