METABOLIC DETOXIFICATION: A PRIMER
While our bodies detox naturally everyday, toxins are lurking everywhere in modern society. Metabolic detoxification provides the nutritional support for facilitating the pathways involved in the processing and excretion of toxins. This program discusses a healthful detoxification food plan, tips to reduce toxic burden, and touches on genetic polymorphisms that influence our bodies' ability for proper detoxification.
Upon successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • Define the term metabolic detoxification.


  • Identify the organs involved in detoxification.


  • List at least five tips to reduce toxic burden.


  • Name three genomic polymorphisms involved in detoxification.

About the Presenter: Natalie Ledesma, MS, RDN, CSO, CLT
Natalie Ledesma

With over 26 years of experience as a registered dietitian nutritionist, Natalie is a well-seasoned practitioner. A board-certified specialist in oncology nutrition, Natalie is the founding dietitian for the nutrition program at the University of California, San Francisco Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and is the clinical nutrition specialist at Smith Integrative Oncology in San Francisco. On a daily basis, she works with patients through her integrative & functional nutrition private practice. Natalie provides nutrition counseling and frequently presents nationally on various cancer and integrative health focused nutrition topics. She has taught college courses and cooking classes, and has been extensively involved in community outreach.

Natalie is highly regarded in her industry and is often sought out for her expert opinion. She has been interviewed by The New York Times, NBC, Fortune magazine, Cure magazine, MAMM magazine, Runner’s World, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
