Diabetes Remote Patient Monitoring
DIABETES REMOTE PATIENT MONITORING TO PROMOTE YOUR VALUE AND MAXIMIZE MEDICARE REIMBURSEMENT
This timely webinar will review in DETAIL the VERY latest Medicare reimbursement rules for remote patient monitoring that RDNs can now furnish in all practice settings for patients with diabetes, and other chronic diseases. Four separate RPM procedure codes are billable for patient training on RPM, the RPM device supply, patient care management activities without the patient present and interactive communication with the patient via telephone calls, emails, MyChart, etc. The CMS COVID-19 waivers are also reviewed which make this benefit a key way to enhance the value of RDNs and diabetes care and education specialists.
Upon successful completion of this two-hour course, the participant should be able to:
  • Name the healthcare professionals who allowed to direct bill Medicare for remote patient monitoring (RPM).

  • Name the healthcare professionals who can furnish (render) Medicare RPM.

  • Explain the type of RPM device that must be used, per the Medicare reimbursement rules.

  • Explain the activities that can be counted toward the 20 minutes of RPM time for codes 99457 and 99458.

  • Explain the CMS COVID-19 waivers for the RPM benefit that remove or ease many of the reimbursement rules.

  • State the 15 benefits of furnishing RPM related to the clinical staff (RDNs, RNs, DCESs, etc.), providers and the patients.

FOR CDCESs: This Course Qualifies for CE Credit!

To satisfy the requirement for renewal of certification according to the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE, www.cbdce.org), courses must relate to diabetes and be part of the list of recognized providers of the CBDCE. The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) is listed as an CBDCE recognized provider. Because Dietitian Central has been granted accreditation by the CDR, it therefore meets the criteria as an approved provider of CEs for CDCESs by the CBDCE. The CBDCE does not directly approve continuing education for any specific webinar or self study course.
